VegeNag site is live!

FacebookGoogle GmailShare

Wanted to let you all know that after a couple of years, we have finally launched the VegeNag website. VegeNag is a service that will email you everytime you are supposed to do something for your vegetables in the garden. All you have to do is tell us where you live and what you are planting and we do the rest. You will get reminders for appropriate planting dates, watering schedules, fertilization dates and requirements etc. We also give you a customized planting guide. It is all free right now since the site is still in beta (means that some stuff still is being fixed). Please let me know what you think and tell me about any suggestions you have for improvement. I hope this helps everyone be successful every year. Please signup today.

I have already signed up and am very excited about this. This will be my first year that I have even attempted a garden. This is really going to be a big help!

Let me know about any problems you find, and if you have any specific questions let me know.

Thanks,

Alex

Since I am already behind on my “Spring” planting, there are already plants I probably should have planted by now. Will it Nag me on those or only ones who’s plant date is coming up?

So I realize this is not explained very well, but eventually there will be more clues. Basically, since most of your planting dates have past, you will not receive planting nags. However, by the end of this week, under “Planting Guide”, you will have dates listed at the bottom of the page that will tell you when you should have planted those plants. Then, once you do finally plant, you will want to enter the actual planting date on the “My Plants” page for your respective plant in the column labeled “Spring Plant Date”. By doing this all of the rest of the nags will be timed off of that date so that you can move forward.

Also remember that many of the Spring vegetables like lettuce, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, peas etc can be planted in the Fall again so you will be receiving those planting nags once the appropriate time comes.

Hope this answers your question.

Thanks,

Alex

it’s not alive yet, the veggie forms have poor validation and throw php errors.

If you are speaking of the date overrides in the “My plants” page, then we are working on that as we speak and should have resolved in the next couple of days. If you choose not input custom dates then the default dates should still be working. Thanks for the heads up.
