User feedback for VegeNag.com

It has been a couple of weeks now and I am curious what everyone thinks so far about the new service at VegeNag.com. Any thoughts so far? Here are a few of mine:

The “My Plants” page is sort of confusing. I think some people feel like they have to add a date to each plant. However, no dates are needed for the service to work. The date fields are only for customization.

What do you think of the “planting guide”. I am happy with how it is turning out. I love having all of the information in one place per plant.

The watering nags seem to be overkill. I am thinking we should combine them so they send out per the water schedule (bi-weekly, weekly etc) instead of by way of each plant. Thoughts?

Timing is great for me and my area. What about yours?

Let me know what you think so that I can improve the site.

Thanks,

Alex

The water nags are a bit much for the waterloving plants. But I think it will be helpful for the once weekly/10-14day plants. If the programing to group them is too much, I think once we are able to turn off the water nags we don’t want it will be better. I like the other nags though.
The planting guides are great. On some of them the “start indoors” date is AFTER the “plant outdoors” dates (looks like it defaults to the frost free date). Is this because those should just be directly seeded outdoors?

I agree about the watering nags being too much. We are going to combine the water-loving ones into one nag etc. We will also be adding the “turn-off watering nags” feature eventually. You are correct about the seed starting dates for those plants that should be direct seeded. It is a change in the code we need to make so that it says “not recommended” instead of displaying the frost free date. Thank you so much for helping us improve the site. It is my intention to allow helpful beta users, such as yourself, free subscriptions into perpetuity. So make sure you hold me to that. Any others that would like to help us make improvements or give feedback on user interface, likes and dislikes etc. get the same deal.

Thanks,
Alex
